What attracted you to your chosen work?
I studied material science and engineering for textiles, and one of my first roles was as a colorist, visiting dyehouses in the global textile supply chain. I was overwhelmed by the bulk and wet chemistry with green and blue rivers (depending on the dye batch of the running production orders). This experience opened my eyes and made me realize that innovation and technology are needed to transform the industry from dirty to clean processes.
I continue to find my passion in using technology to innovate toward a low-carbon and circular economy. I enjoy building bridges between technical and commercial needs. It is a great pleasure to connect the physical with the digital and work with our partners (big and small) to create value through sustainability.
What skills did you develop early that are still useful today?
I've always been surrounded by people with superior skills and knowledge, which triggered a sense of humility and a desire to learn from them. This has developed my collaborative spirit, where I consistently worked towards shared objectives. I've regularly encountered diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and strategic visions that have broadened my understanding. Through these experiences, I learned early on that commitment, openness to learning, and seeking guidance enables everyone to lead change.
